The white wine »Intense« Sauvignon Blanc trocken, vintage 2023 from the winery Weingut Hammel has been rated in 2025 by Ulrich Sautter with 91 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Sauvignon Blanc from the region Pfalz (Palatinate) in Germany.
Rather subtle aroma with a somewhat vegetable-like reduction, notes of green asparagus, papaya and lemon balm. Grips the palate directly, tight structure, framed by fine tannins. Challenging but not overwhelming - and the rather high alcohol content is noticeable but surprisingly well integrated.
More about the tastingThe not-so-noisy Pfalz smells fresh and savoury in the glass. Blackcurrant and green bell pepper reach the olfactory nerves in a flash. On the palate, the wine has a medium body with finely woven aromas and hints of phenolics. The medium-bodied finish is creamy.
