The red wine Blauer Zweigelt Barrique, vintage 2007 from the winery Weingut Horst und Georg Schmelzer has been rated in 2022 by Peter Moser with 93 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Zweigelt from the region Lake Neusiedl in Austria.
It has a deep crimson colour, with purple reflections, and a broad ochre rim. There are lovely fine oak nuances on the nose, along with dark berry, ripe cherry, fine caramel, and some cassis in the background. It is juicy, elegant, with ripe cherry, pleasant sweet fruit, ripe tannins, persistence, and some chocolate on the finish. It is gluggable, still very youthful, and it has certain ageing potential.
