The red wine Historical Sanguis, vintage 2020 from the winery Weingut P. M. Metzler has been rated in 2024 by Ulrich Sautter with 93+ Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Schwarzblauer Riesling, Hartblau, Blauer Arbst, Fränkischer Burgunder, Chatus
Cuvée of Chatus, black-blue Riesling, hard blue, small Franconian Burgundy style, blue Arbst. Wood and yeast dominate the nose at first. With air contact, cherry aromas, elderberry, finally menthol and green pepper emerge. On the palate the wine has an enormous density without being too astringent or hard. The tannins completely fill out the body, the ripe acidity is seamlessly fused with the ensemble, the aromas remain youthfully restrained, but show burgeoning complexity.
