Tasting Notes
Sold at the 1985 VDP auction for DM 11,200, tasting note from 2010: dried pear, raisin, walnut and a delicate, slightly oxidative patina. On the palate it shows with a round, soft flow, ripe sweetness and seamlessly integrated acidity. Still remarkably vital, a fascinating combination of maturity and tension.
More about the tasting »Best of Bernkasteler Doctor«A dark, somewhat dull brown, the colour is deceptive with regard to the actual state of the wine, which has not changed at all since a first tasting 20 years ago and will certainly remain so well into the next century. One of the most concentrated noses I have ever found in a TBA: nuances of chocolate, roasted vegetables and herbs on a base of brown butter. Thick and oily on the palate, with a sweetness like strong beer and herbal savouriness. Fully lives up to its name. (MS).
