Denmark’s next culinary star has been crowned: Mathias Lynghamar dazzled the judges at Rising Star 2026 with his flawless dishes, proving that talent, precision, and creativity make the perfect recipe for victory.
Mathias Lynghamar of Rønnede Kro impressed the judges with a flawless gastronomic performance, taking home the title of Rising Star 2026.
After an intense day featuring a main course from a secret Mystery Box and a dessert crafted from workshop ingredients, the judging panel was unanimous: “Mathias delivered an exceptionally strong and cohesive performance, with a clear link between his main and dessert, precise execution, and an outstanding understanding of his ingredients,” they said.
His dessert, in particular, drew high praise from Elisabeth Madsen, Head of Dessert and Pastry at Falsled Kro, who highlighted its thoughtful presentation and refinement.
Mikkel Marschall, founder of Sol over Gudhjem, Denmark’s largest food festival featuring chef competitions, a food market, live music, and pop-up restaurants, praised the competition’s standard: “Rising Star gives the next generation of chefs a platform. This year’s level was sky-high. Mathias showed that talent, preparation, and courage can come together perfectly.”
Mathias was visibly delighted: “Winning is incredible! It’s been a tough day with amazing competitors. I’ve watched every Rising Star competition and always wanted to compete. I didn’t think I was ready—turns out I was. Huge thanks to everyone who supported me!”
