Details about wine tourism conference revealed

In March, Tarragona will host IWINETC, a wine and culinary tourism event.

The 14th edition of the two-day event, IWINETC (International Wine Tourism Conference), will take place at the Hotel Cuitat Tarragona in the Spanish province of Tarragona, just south of Barcelona, from March 23 to 24. Details about this conference have now been revealed: the refreshed format has eight keynote speakers with several industry experts and five targeted tracks.

Keynote speakers on the first day of the conference will include Marta Domènech Tomàs, General Director of Tourism of the Generalitat de Catalunya, who will present Catalunya as a grape escape destination. Damià Serrano, Experiential Marketing and Research Director at the Catalan Tourist Board will outline the wine and culinary tourism strategy plan for 2022-2027. Wine tourism expert Roberta Garibaldi will discuss how to take wine tourism outside the winery to the surrounding territory, and other keynote speakers will be Chris Torres (marketing potential of user-generated content for the wine and culinary tourism industry), Peter Syme (Artificial Intelligence), and Judith Lewis. Day two features culinary tourism specialist David Mora who will look at designing Experiential Wine & Culinary Tourism Products.

There will be two wine masterclasses at IWINETEC: Silvia Culell will lead the Grand Cava tasting featuring renowned producers within DO Cava; Sarka Nadvornika will be delivering a masterclass with wines of South Moravia.

“Our market-leading Wine Tourism Conference is the place to be inspired by some of the best expert speakers from within the wine and culinary tourism industry, all under one roof,” said Anthony Swift, Event Director, IWINETC. The conference wants to inspire delegates to think outside the box and help them create their own incredible wine tourism experiences for their markets.

IWINETC kicks off on March 22, 2023, with a guided walking tour of historic Tarragona courtesy of the Tarragona Turisme and a welcome reception in the evening at the historical building of the Pontificial Seminary, situated at the Tarraconensian Centre, courtesy of the Agència Catalana de Turisme.
