Gordon Ramsay to Open Second Restaurant at London's Savoy
British chef Gordon Ramsay is opening a second restaurant at The Savoy, focusing on seafood.
River Restaurant
British chef Gordon Ramsay will open a second restaurant at London's The Savoy hotel in September. The River Restaurant will replace Kaspar’s at the famous luxury hotel, Big Hospitality reported. Ramsay, famous for his foul-mouthed rants, has run the Savoy Grill for nearly 20 years and its executive chef Matt Worswick will oversee both sites.
Seafood will take centre-stage at The River, which will reportedly feature dishes such as tandoori monkfish curry, swordfish schnitzel and whole baked Cornish turbot, as well as a raw seafood bar.
High-end UK seafood
The new restaurant will be located in the heart of the hotel with views over the Thames and will offer a "classic yet stylish and relaxed all day dining environment", Ramsay's eponymous restaurant group told the Evening Standard.
Ramsay said he intended to support high-end UK seafood providers. “I absolutely love the Savoy. I never tire of walking across the historic Strand forecourt, through the revolving doors and into the stunning hotel lobby,” Ramsay is quoted by Big Hospitality as saying. “It was a dream come true to take over the Savoy Grill 18 years ago, so to be trusted with a second restaurant in the heart of this incredible location is an absolute honour.” Ramsay's restaurant group has 24 UK sites and is rolling out a raft of new offerings, including the first Bread Street Cafe in Ealing Broadway this week.
