Michelin Guide Singapore Promotes Two Restaurants to Two Stars
Two new restaurants have joined five others holding two Michelin stars in Singapore, according to the newly released 2022 Michelin Guide.
The new two-star restaurants are Cloudstreet, named after a novel by an Australian author, and Thevar, which is rooted in Indian traditions courtesy of its Penang-born Indian chef.
Their promotion means the city-state of Singapore is now home to seven two-Michelin star restaurants, with the others being JAAN by Kirk Westaway, Saint Pierre, Shisen Hanten, Shoukouwa, and Waku Ghin.
“There is no doubt that Singapore is still a culinary gem, and thanks to the particularly impressive resilience of all the professionals from the industry, local and international gourmets will be able to experience unforgettable gastronomic journeys in the Lion City once again,” says Gwendal Poullennec, the international director of the Michelin Guide.
Three restaurants – Les Amis, Odette and Zén – maintained their three Michelin star ratings.
Seven new restaurants were awarded one Michelin star, four of which are making their debut in the 2022 edition, one has gained a Michelin star for its new opening, while two, including La Dame de Pic at Raffles Hotel Singapore, the first Asian outpost for chef Anne-Sophie Pic, have been promoted from being Michelin selected restaurants.
Singapore now has a total of 52 Michelin starred establishments, a new record.
