Ultimate Adventure: Glamping on Mount Everest

Mountaineering used to be about long preparation, endurance and privation, but Furtenbach Adventures now offers climbers "luxurious expeditions to Mount Everest."

A private chef, wi-fi, yoga and espresso are all part of the luxurious package that is being sold as "five-star flash expeditions to Mount Everest." The trips are marketed as being "flash" because they offer the unusual experience in ultra-short time. The bespoke adventure takes "climbers from base camp to the summit of Everest in just three weeks," making the experience available for time-poor but cash-rich travellers.

Peak memory

Austria- and US-based Furtenbach Adventures who operate these tours explain: "Prior to the expedition, flash participants will sleep in a hypoxia tent for six to eight weeks to get acclimatised to an altitude equivalent of Mount Everest."

The combination of  "this innovative pre-acclimatisation, maximum oxygen support and the equipment and experience from our team," makes it possible to create "a once in a lifetime memory within 21 days," the company promises.

Stoked

“We’re stoked to be able to offer such incredible expeditions to Everest, not only in a safe manner, but with luxury and comfort,” says Lukas Furtenbach, founder and CEO of the guided expedition company. “We continue to highlight safety and wellbeing above all, so including gourmet meals, yoga classes to unwind and one of the shortest expeditions to Everest is truly special.”

Luxurious ascent

The "small group of determined adventurers" will have a private mountain guide, expert professional support during the pre-expedition preparation phase and several exclusive facilities during the ascent to the world's highest peak.
