After a year-long closure for building renovations, Gothenburg’s acclaimed “Bhoga” returns to form, reaffirming its place at the forefront of modern Nordic dining with ingredient-driven tasting menus and locally focused creativity.

After a year-long hiatus, Bhoga is back, and Gothenburg’s fine dining scene feels complete once more. The Michelin-starred restaurant, co-founded in 2012 by Gustav Knutsson and Niclas Yngvesson, has reopened following the extensive renovation of the historic building it calls home. Despite the interruption, Bhoga has held fast to its guiding principle: seasonal, locally sourced cuisine executed with precision and restraint.

The kitchen offers three tasting menu options—five, seven, or nine courses—each showcasing ingredients that illustrate the bounty and diversity of Sweden’s west coast. Expect dairy cow from Löt Farmoysters from the fishing village of Havstenssund, and truffles from Gotland, woven together with vegetal notes of sugar kelp, lovage, and quince. The result is a seamless blend of terroir and technique—a cuisine both rooted and refined.

Adding even more appeal, Bhoga has introduced lunch service on Thursdays and Fridays, offering guests a new way to experience its thoughtful approach to modern Nordic gastronomy. With its reopening, Bhoga feels poised not merely to return, but to redefine its rhythm—quietly confident, ingredient-led, and unmistakably Swedish at heart.
