Michelin Guide 2026: Austria's (new) Michelin-starred Restaurants
A shower of Stars in Austria! 101 establishments now hold Michelin stars – 22 of them newly awarded.
On Wednesday morning, the Michelin Guide Austria published its latest restaurant selection, once again bringing a shower of stars to the Austrian gastronomy scene. Following the guide's return in 2025, when stars were awarded across Austria for the first time since 2009, the focus now shifts to the country's best kitchens and the question: Who will be celebrating Michelin stars this year?
22 new starred restaurants
Establishments in the top tier can breathe a sigh of relief: both three-star restaurants ("Amador" and "Steirereck") as well as all two-star establishments, have maintained their previous level. One restaurant gained an additional star: The "Weinbank" in Ehrenhausen has now been awarded two stars, making it the first two-star restaurant in Styria. A total of 22 new establishments have been awarded a Michelin badge, including the "JOLA" and the "Glasswing" in Vienna, the "Zimmerl" in Waidhofen an der Thaya (Lower Austria) and the "RAR Fine Dining" in Maria Alm (Salzburg). Sustainability is also on the rise: six new businesses have been awarded a Green Star, which stand for a particularly responsible approach to nature and resources.

Looking back: Austria in the Michelin spotlight
Last year, the Michelin Guide returned to Austria and awarded a total of 82 restaurants with stars. Two top restaurants in Vienna received the highest distinction of three stars, while 18 establishments were awarded two stars and numerous other restaurants received their first star. Unlike last year, the presentation of the Michelin plaques will take place a few days later: The gala with official presentation of the awards is planned for March 23, 2026 in Schladming.
