Pop-up concept Barra returns May 10th to bring Danish breakfast culture to Helsinki
Danish breakfast meets Helsinki: On May 10, Barra takes over Restaurant Boreal in collaboration with Marimekko and La Cabra—bringing together Scandinavian morning culture, design, and coffee.
For its sixth edition, the Helsinki-based pop-up breakfast concept Barra takes over restaurant Boreal together with iconic Finnish design house Marimekko, transforming the space with colourful tableware, textiles and installations. At the same time, Copenhagen-based coffee roastery La Cabra will be on site, brewing coffee all day.
Behind Barra are chef Dmitry Anatolev of Boreal, together with co-founders Emma Ranne and Louisa Djebbar, founded on the idea of bringing Danish breakfast culture to Helsinki. Since launching in autumn 2024, Barra has evolved into a travelling café rooted in food, design and community, with each edition shaped by new collaborations.
The menu stays true to Barra’s core while following the season. Expect signature BMOs, yoghurt bowls and pastries, alongside morning buns served with Danish Gammel Knas and churned butter, this time sourced from a small farm in Mouhijärvi. Seasonal touches include spandauers and yogurt with the season's first rhubarb.
The pop-up runs from 10:00 until sold out or 15:00. No reservations required.
