Seafood Festival 2026: A Taste of Denmark’s Coastal Cuisine
Each spring, as summer approaches, Denmark’s culinary scene turns towards the sea. From 22 to 31 May 2026, the Seafood Festival brings together restaurants across the country, each presenting specially curated menus that highlight the diversity of Nordic seafood.
A Nationwide Celebration
Rather than taking place in a single location, the festival unfolds across participating restaurants throughout Denmark. From classic fish dishes to more contemporary interpretations, chefs showcase their approach to seafood—shaped by seasonality, proximity to the coast, and a strong culinary tradition.
At the heart of the festival lies a simple concept: restaurants create exclusive menus at fixed prices, ranging from concise seafood selections to more elaborate multi-course experiences. Many venues also offer wine pairings designed to complement the dishes.
A Seasonal Dining Experience
Set in late May, the festival captures the transition into early summer—when longer days and lighter evenings draw people out to dine. The menus reflect this shift, focusing on freshness, simplicity, and the natural flavours of fish and shellfish.
Organised by Dining Week and Madbillet, the Seafood Festival has become a recurring highlight in Denmark’s dining calendar—offering a concise yet vibrant snapshot of the country’s coastal cuisine.
