Netflix enters restaurant business with launch of LA pop-up

Stars of the streaming service’s cookery shows will be involved in the menu for Netflix Bites.

For those who spend their time on Netflix working their way through the raft of cookery programmes, the news that the streaming service is branching out into the restaurant business is likely to be of great interest.

Netflix Bites will be a pop-up restaurant opening at Los Angeles’ Short Stories Hotel on June 30, with the stars of some its cooking shows heavily influencing the menu. Some of the names believed to be involved include Iron Chef pair Curtis Stone and Dominique Crenn, Jacques Torres of Nailed It! and Nadiya Hussain of Nadiya Bakes fame.

“From episode to entrée, with Netflix Bites we are creating an in-person experience where fans can immerse themselves in their favourite food shows,” said Josh Simon, Vice President of consumer products for Netflix. “We are excited to collaborate with these incredible chefs who will bring this vision to life and showcase an array of their delicious menus.”

According to TV chef Curtis Stone, who runs Beverly Hills restaurant Maude: “Bringing my love of food to people across the world is one of the biggest thrills of my life but this screen-to-table experience of giving fans a taste of what happens on camera is just awesome.”

With a motto of “Watching is good. Eating is better”, the restaurant will be open for dinner from 5-10pm every day of the week, and for brunch 10am-2pm on weekends.
