Porto's World of Wine Opens New Rosé Museum

Visitors to the Portuguese city of Porto will now be introduced to rosé wine in an unconventional way at the "Pink Palace".

Museum with a difference
The seventh museum in Porto's new World of Wine (WOW) cultural district opened this summer. In the Pink Palace, which opened on July 24, visitors can learn about the history, science and culture behind rosé wine. It’s the most eccentric of all the WOW museums and invites visitors to interact, with several backdrops designed for photos. The museum’s eleven rooms teach visitors about the regions and climates around the world in which rosé grapes are grown, as well as explaining cultivation and production techniques. The journey through the Pink Palace leads not only through Portugal, but also through Provence and ends unexpectedly in a saloon. A sense of humour, a spirit of discovery and a fully charged mobile phone are the best ways to enjoy the adventure.

The world of wine through "rose-coloured glasses"
Five rosé wines will be served during the visit: Quinta do Vale do Bragão Rosé, AIX Gran Vin de Provence Rosé, Mateus Rosé, Vértice Rosé Bruto and Croft Pink Rosé Port. The latter was specially created by CEO Adrian Bridge in 2008, making it the first new port in over a generation. "It's a new, unexpected concept and different from what visitors know or would expect from the World of Wine. It is tailored to the new generations, to the holiday we all dream of and to the desire that the feeling of happiness we feel on holiday never ends - that is the feeling this experience speaks of and that is reflected in a glass of rosé drunk in good company", Bridge explained. The new museum will be complemented by other openings, including the restaurant Pip, the Maze café and a shop selling Portuguese clothing and jewellery.

Good to know
The World of Wine has also recently opened its own corona test centre, where visitors can get a PCR test result for €150 within four hours or an antigen test result for €25 within two hours.
