Doctors Cornelia and Andreas Wobar work with brains - but their wines are by no means cerebral. The Johanniter, for example, is wonderfully invigorating with its Riesling-like character and lively freshness. The oak-aged red Pinotin, a relative of Pinot Noir, is also excellent, clearly thriving in Lower Lusatia. The vines grow on the southern flank of a moraine hill on Lake Großräschen. The climate and soil are perfectly suited to the PiWi varieties planted, which require minimal spraying and ripen reliably.
