Franz Schindler from Mörbisch pioneered Austrian red wine almost 40 years ago with the creation of his "Cuvée d'Or". From the very beginning, this fine wine has made a name for itself in the wine scene and has been one of the best wines in Austria for many years. In 1985, the idea of vinifying the domestic Blaufränkisch according to the international model was realised. This laid the foundation for today's "Cuvée d'Or". This wine was then supplemented in two stages with two cuvée partners: in 1989 with the Cabernet Sauvignon variety, which was still very rare in Burgenland at the time, and finally in 2000 with Merlot. With the 1999 vintage, a luxury version of this wine was presented for the first time as the "Grande Cuvée d'Or", a prestige wine that is only produced in the best red wine vintages.
However, a single-varietal Merlot, which is characterised by strength and certain ageing potential, is also causing more and more of a sensation at Schindler. Cabernet Sauvignon and, of course, Blaufränkisch are also available from Franz Schindler in single-varietal and captivating form. The sweet wines shine with harmony, power, depth of fruit and a fine acidity. The company's philosophy of allowing the great wines more time to mature in barrels and only bottling and selling them later is confirmed time and again by their top rankings in tastings.
