The Pfneisl winery's recipe for success is "tradition, innovation, love of wine and a connection with nature" - or to put it simply: "Born 2 make wine." The family's motto is more true today than ever, and after centuries of tradition, the new generation, Lisa Pfneisl, is now committed to viticulture with a great deal of passion. Lisa has been an integral part of the family business for ten years and officially took over from her parents Angelika and Gerhard Pfneisl in 2024.
The Pfneisls are highly quality-conscious, hand-picking national and international varieties from the best and most famous vineyards in central Burgenland and ageing them classically in steel tanks or in small or large oak barrels. The wines are given plenty of time to mature, allowing the winemaker to achieve harmonious wines with depth and yet good drinkability. The majority of the 20 hectares of vineyards are cultivated in the home municipality of Deutschkreutz. In 1999, the family also created their own cru in Kleinmutschen, 18 kilometres away - the geographical centre of Burgenland.
In addition to the Austrian flagship varieties Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt, the international varieties Shiraz, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc also grow in the top vineyards, which are not only the family's great passion, but all produce remarkable qualities thanks to their proud vine age of at least 30 years. The top cuvées "Platinum", "Pentagon", "Hexenberg" and "Ego", the white wine varieties Viognier, Grüner Veltliner and Gelber Muskateller as well as rosé wines, a sweet wine and a non-alcoholic juice-based alternative round off the range.
Since the summer of 2018, the Pfneisl family has been welcoming guests to the lavishly renovated flagship store right in the centre of the Blaufränkisch community of Deutschkreutz. Events and pop-ups are regularly held at the winery, and in 2025 the winery will open its doors one day a month for "Afterwork - the Mini-Pop Heurige".
