The red wine Moncerbal Bierzo DO, vintage 2011 from the winery Bodega Descendientes de J. Palacios has been rated in 2016 by Peter Moser with 96 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Mencia from the region Bierzo in Spain.
Dark ruby with purple reflections and a slightly watery rim. Multi layered aromas with dark minerality, blackberry, candied orange zest, ripe cherries, developing further with air. Powerful but with elegance and finesse, richly structured, fine tannins, mineral and a long, lingering finish with nougat and orange notes. Will age for a long time yet.
