Tasting Notes
Strong carmine garnet, deep colour core, ocher reflections, broad rim brightening. Subtle oxidative nuances, dried porcini mushroom, a hint of Madeira, notes of tapenade, black truffle, a very antiquated bouquet that opens up well with air. This is followed by candied orange zest, red cherry and some cassis, the glass gradually freshens up. Powerful, juicy, a hint of red cherry, incredibly sweet, fine acidity, freshly structured, lemon touch on the finish, a full-bodied, multi-faceted wine with good length that was once a radiant diva. This great vintage has great sentimental significance for Figeac; it was Thierry Manoncourt's premiere vintage, which was to be followed by 63 more.
