Tasting Notes
Medium ruby garnet, ochre reflections, brightening on the rim. Sweet preserved plums, notes of cassis, liquorice, ethereal hints of mint and eucalyptus, some graphite and cedar. On the palate, vivid, silky tannins, fresh, racy acidity, enveloping, with a pleasing fruit driven sweetness, powerful and delicate at the same time, very clear black berries, hints of orange, subtle notes of chocolate and honey on the finish, with length, and robust ageing reserves.
More about the tastingMedium ruby with orange reflections and a broader rim. This bottle had a subtle Madeira touch on the nose, including sweet plum confit, cassis, liquorice, ethereal hints of mint and eucalyptus, some graphite and cedar wood. Present, silky tannins on the palate, fresh, racy acid structure, full-bodied and pronounced in fruit, powerful and delicate at the same time, very clear black berry fruit, hints of orange, delicate chocolate and honey on the finish. Convincing length, has impressive certain ageing potential. A good half of the tasting panel felt that the oxidation note of this specific bottle was too strong and abstained from voting. Could show even better from a well-aged bottle. (99 PP).
