The red wine Cornas AOC, vintage 2016 from the winery Domaine Guillaume Gilles has been rated in 2019 by Ulrich Sautter with 95 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Syrah from the region Côtes du Rhône in France.
Blackberry confit, slate dust, rose, and slightly tarry notes. It is silky smooth and broad, with some subtle acidity, some oiliness in the background, and good mineral extract. All of this is done in a cozy way, showing a lot of warmth without getting too hot, and the fruit is, in its complex maturity, a stunner.
