The red wine Hieronymus, vintage 2018 from the winery Elephant Hill has been rated in 2021 by Anne Krebiehl MW with 93 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec from the region Hawkes Bay in New Zealand.
Sumptuous plum and cherry come with a glorious overlay of new leather on the nose. The palate is ripe and smooth, with velvety tannins wrapping that ripe and expressive fruit. Notions of ink and something leafy and savoury peek through to give nuance while mouth-watering freshness triumphs on the long, smooth finish. Drink 2025-2040.
