Notions of ripe, black juicy cherries come with a smattering of black pepper and liquorice on the nose. On the palate, the wine is dense, bold and gutsy. Tannins and freshness vie for attention and do their dramatic thing. In the end, however, they smooth out into something that is appetizing and almost mellow.
