Very ripe plum fruit emanates from the glass, almost with an overtone of prune. The palate dials this ripeness back and replaces it with smooth, fresh fruit: juicy plum, black cherry with ripe, smooth, velvety tannin. There is real mellowness here, but also freshness. A.K.
