The red wine Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, vintage 2018 from the winery La Poderina has been rated in 2023 by Othmar Kiem & Simon Staffler with 90 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Sangiovese from the region Tuscany in Italy.
Bright, flint ruby red. Nose of delicate buttered pastry, malt, plus sugared cherry and a hint of tobacco, distantly reminiscent of dried rose petal. Austere and straightforward on the palate, with nice juiciness, then becomes a bit rough and drying on the back end.
