The red wine Batuta Douro DOC, vintage 2018 from the winery Niepoort has been rated in 2021 by Peter Moser with 95 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Rufete from the region Douro in Portugal.
Strong ruby, purple reflections, broad ochre rim. Herbal savouriness underpinned by a delicate slate note, red berry confit, subtle hint of liquorice, mandarin zest, a multi-faceted bouquet. Juicy, tightly woven, red cherry, silky tannins, finesse-rich structure, very light-footed and salty, shows great length, dances on the palate, pure delicacy instead of power, a very fine wine.
