The red wine Ornellaia Vecchie Viti Cabernet Sauvignon (Fassmuster, wird nicht alleine abgefüllt), vintage 2015 from the winery Ornellaia has been rated in 2017 by Ulrich Sautter with 92 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Cabernet Sauvignon from the region Tuscany in Italy.
From several plots planted at the beginning of the 1980s, in a warmer location embedded in maquis, the soils are rather sandy and loamy. Strong wood, cinnamon, licorice and clove. Also some mint. Some tree resin and more wild blueberry than cassis. Sweetish attack, light viscosity, dry, grainy tannins, almost wide-meshed compared to the Bellaria Alta Cabernet Sauvignon, noticeable alcohol, tends more towards fullness than freshness or density, smooth transition to the finish, which is somewhat "warm" and slightly drying.
