The red wine 17th Nail in my Cranium Syrah, vintage 2005 from the winery Sine Qua Non has been rated in 2016 by Peter Moser with 99 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Syrah from the region Santa Rita Hills in United States.
Dark ruby in colour with a deeply coloured core, purple reflections, and a subtle watery rim. On the nose, delicate tobacco, fine herbal spices, subtle blueberry, and floral nuances. With air, revealing aromas of mocha and steak, plus blackberry confit. The palate is juicy and elegant, with fine black fruit and herbal savouriness, the wood is very well integrated, discreetly fruity. Very harmonious, mineral and persistent, full of finesse, this has the potential for further ageing. Has obviously not quite reached the point where it’s ready to drink yet, but already all the pieces are in place.
