The aroma is intensely chocolatey, and also there are signs of incipient oxidative maturity: a hint of fino sherry, dried fruit, cassata. On the palate, the wine has a powerful appearance: there is punchy alcohol, yes - but also an oiliness that comes with ethereal savouriness, fine tannin and intense minerality.
