The red wine Sottocastello Friuli Colli Orientali Rosso Riserva DOC, vintage 2017 from the winery Vigna Traverso has been rated in 2025 by Othmar Kiem, Simon Staffler with 92 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Merlot from the region Friuli-Venezia Giulia in Italy.
Gently shimmering ruby red colour. Multi-layered, beguiling bouquet, with notes of rum steeped fruit and sultanas, plus sealing wax and iodine, blood and pickled violet. Surprisingly fresh on the palate, with a definite pull, rich fruit and a very persistent finish.
