The sweet and dessert wine Bernkastel Doctor Riesling Eiswein, vintage 1983 from the winery Weingüter Wegeler – Gutshaus Mosel has been rated in 2020 by Ulrich Sautter with 97 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Riesling from the region Moselle in Germany.
Golden with reddish reflections. Very clear aromas: forest honey, fig, stewed apple, no botrytis. Extremely lush on the palate, but held together by enormous acidity. Very, very mineral, dense, steely, long-lasting. Breathtaking how the greatest finesse and highest intensity harmonise here.
More about the tastingVery closed on the nose, a hint of wood influence, full-bodied on the palate with a comparatively strong sweetness on a finely nerved base, spicy and mineral finish notes in a wine that has been seriously vinified for its potential. A wine as generous as a comfortable plush sofa.
