The white wine »Junges Schwaben Fumé Blanc« Sauvignon Blanc, vintage 2023 from the winery Weingut Bernhard Ellwanger has been rated in 2026 by Ulrich Sautter with 93 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Sauvignon Blanc from the region Württemberg in Germany.
Day 1: Smoke, lime, blackcurrant, red grapefruit, also some gooseberry, a hint of apricot. On the palate with lively acidity, gripping, lots of juice, supple fruit, citrus flavors dominate, some vanilla, grippy phenols, mineral thread, good length, finishes fresh. Day 2: Smoke on the nose, gooseberries stand out, plus lime, citrus fruit again, but all less expressive. Some loss of pressure on the palate, the tension has diminished. Day 3: Gooseberry, smoke, abrasion from the lime, followed by some cassis. More lively again on the palate, citrus fruits, fine phenolics, citrus aromas dominate, good length, has acquired a Riesling-like quality.
