The red wine Dernau Goldkaul Spätburgunder trocken, vintage 2023 from the winery Weingut Bertram-Baltes has been rated in 2025 by Ulrich Sautter with 94+ Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Spätburgunder from the region Ahr in Germany.
Subtle wood smoke and flint, but a surprising cherry flavour in the background. Brilliant acidity on the palate, also salty, ripe tannins with a long, muscular structure. Certainly on the edge for many, but simply a completely unique idea of a top wine.
