The sweet and dessert wine Scharzhofberger Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel, vintage 1979 from the winery Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof has been rated in 2007 with 86 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Riesling from the region Moselle in Germany.
Strong golden yellow. A delicate oxidative note on the nose, strong dried fruit notes, with some apricot jam underneath. Rather broad on the palate, sweet, the minerality is there, but it lacks complexity, seems somewhat watered down, clearly lacks (this bottle) the length for its class. One of the few real disappointments.
