The red wine »KB« Sonnenberg Spätburgunder, vintage 2020 from the winery Weingut Jülg has been rated in 2023 by Ulrich Sautter with 95 Falstaff points.
Fresh red cherry opens on the nose accompanied by fine savouriness, some new oak, smoke, dark pipe tobacco, pomegranate and some menthol. Layered, complex, punchy and deep on the palate with tightly meshed extract and seamlessly integrated acidity, it has high quality, still youthful tannins in good measure. The wine has a sublime, chalky mineral backbone, and is savoury and engaging in its size and length.
