Tasting from 15.02.2023: Ulrich Sautter

The 2018 Spätburgunder was harvested at 118 Oechsle and came out of fermentation with 16.7% alcohol, therefore the wine went into a vintage blend with "lighter" vintages. In the nose it is buttery with notes of Black Forest Cherry, fresh Pinot-like berries, an unusual complexity with a squaring of the circle: the aroma shows freshness and evolution. In the mouth it is full-bodied, fleshy, without greenness, softly grounded, balanced with powerful yet countered alcohol, there is a lot of juice, and quite a long lasting and homogeneous plateau phase of extract.
