Wine and cheese is a match made in heaven – that's clear to everyone. But god is in the details.

Wine and cheese are a classic and popular combination that has proven its value time and time again. But as we all know, the difference between a sublime experience and dissapointment lies in the details: aromatic and intense soft cheeses, for example, do not need a Top Burgundy to shine, while hard cheese calls for Arbois Vin Jaune or Dézaley – or even a very mature Bordeaux.

Cow Cheese

Soft cheeses such as Camembert or Brie
go well with Chardonnay, but also with mildly tannic reds  like ripe Burgundy or Gamay
Hard cheeses call for Arbois Vin Jaune or Dézaley
Very mature hard cheeses go well with very mature Bordeaux
A Vacherin Mont-d'Or tastes great with Arbois Vin Jaune, Dézaley or very mature (red) Burgundy

Sheep's cheese

Provençal white or Mediterranean rosé wines, e.g. Cassis Blanc, Vin de Corse Rosé
