Wine Photographer of the Year 2022: The Winning Photos

UK photographer Jon Wyand has won the Errazuriz Wine Photographer of the Year award. Check out his photo and those of the finalists in the Pink Lady annual food and wine photo awards.

A magnificent shot by UK photographer Jon Wyand, Gathering prunings on Corton Hill, of a French vineyard worker has won him the prestigious Errazuriz Wine Photographer of the Year.

The award is one category in the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2022. The wine photography award is divided into three sub-categories – People, Places and Produce. Wyand’s shot of the worker gathering prunings on a winter's day in the Corton Les Bressandes vineyard in Burgundy also won the People category.

An exhibition of the 2022 finalists will be premiering at The Royal Photographic Society, in Bristol, UK. It will run from 20 November-12 December 2022.

“The winning image evokes with stark beauty the reality of wine growing – you are always at the mercy of nature,” said Joanna Simon, one of the judges of the Errazuriz Wine Photographer of the Year category.

The Places subcategory was won by Marina Spironetti (Italy), with Architecture and Wine, taken at Antinori nel Chianti Classico winery in Italy while Suzanne Becker Bronk (US) won Produce with On Ice, a photo of dry ice being used to inhibit the beginning of fermentation at Caldwell Vineyard in Napa Valley. The winners were announced by celebrity chef and co-presenter of UK Masterchef: The Professionals, Monica Galetti.

This year’s global judging panel, chaired by legendary food photographer David Loftus, included Magui Chadwick from Viňa Errazuriz and Viňa Seňa and Vitalie Taittinger, the president of Champagne Taittinger among other big names in the food and wine industry.
