Copenhagen’s Royal Danish Opera House is entering a new culinary chapter. The restaurant formerly known as Almanak has officially been reintroduced as Amélie — a modern Danish brasserie where classic French technique meets seasonal Nordic ingredients in one of the city’s most spectacular waterfront locations.

With the relaunch, Amélie aims to position itself not only as part of the Opera House experience, but also as a standalone gastronomic destination open to everyone — even guests without a performance ticket. A newly installed private entrance and outdoor elevator now provide direct access from street level to both the restaurant and rooftop terrace, making spontaneous visits for lunch, wine, or dinner significantly easier.

Behind the kitchen is head chef Chris Lindegaard, who has developed a contemporary brasserie concept rooted in French craftsmanship while highlighting Danish seasonal produce. Guests can expect both à la carte dishes and tasting menus, alongside special pre-theatre dining experiences. Traditional brasserie details such as cheese and dessert trolleys, an expanded wine list, and lounge-style coffee and petit fours service will further shape the atmosphere.

The name Amélie was chosen to strengthen the connection to the Opera House’s artistic universe and its royal surroundings, including the view toward nearby Amalienborg Palace.

Operated by Danish hospitality group LOCA, Amélie officially opens on 29 May 2026.
