Restaurant “Barabba” Returns with a Refined New Look

After a thoughtful redesign and a renewed culinary focus, Riccardo Marcon’s contemporary Italian restaurant reopens in Copenhagen—warmer, wiser, and true to its roots.

After more than eight years of late nights and long dinners, restaurant Barabba has entered a new chapter. The Copenhagen favorite has reopened following a brief closure in January 2026, unveiling a considered refurbishment led by local design studio FRAMA, the team behind Bar Vitrine and CABIN.

Known for its tactile, pared-back aesthetic, FRAMA worked closely with owner Riccardo Marcon to create a more grounded, mature space defined by natural wood and understated materials. “It’s become a more mature restaurant—just as I hope I have,” Marcon says. “This isn’t a facelift. It’s about returning to why we started, so we can move forward with purpose.”

The evolution extends to the menu. Guests can choose between a tasting menu or order à la carte, with dishes ranging from arrosticini (grilled lamb skewers) and grilled artichoke with pecorino to pappardelle with game ragù, cavolo nero, and fermented plums. A house classic—spaghetti with butter, colatura di alici, and black caviar—remains firmly in place. The kitchen is led by Italian head chef Simone Cotellessa.

“Standing still is the fastest way to disappear,” Marcon adds. “We needed to evolve.”

Barabba returns with renewed energy—slightly more grown-up, but with the same generous spirit that has defined it since 2017.
