Barr Reopens in Copenhagen with a Renewed Concept
Copenhagen restaurant Barr will reopen on June 1 at Strandgade 93 following an extensive renovation and a refreshed concept centered around the food traditions of the North Sea and Baltic regions.
Since opening in the former noma space in 2017, Barr has explored the culinary cultures connected to Northern Europe’s coastal regions. The new chapter builds on that identity while placing greater emphasis on atmosphere, convivial dining and informal hospitality.
The redesigned interiors, created by Copenhagen-based studio Spacon, highlight the building’s raw architectural character while introducing warmer, material-driven elements inspired by the idea of Barr as “the living room of the Northern Sea.”
Guests can expect generous sharing-style dishes, communal tables and a lively yet relaxed setting shaped by seasonal ingredients, preservation techniques and traditional craftsmanship.
The renovation also introduces more casual bar seating and flexible spaces for larger gatherings, including a new private dining venue, Upstairs at Barr, opening later this summer with views across Copenhagen’s harbor.
Barr reopens for dinner service seven days a week from June 1, with lunch initially available Friday through Sunday before expanding to daily lunch service in July. Reservations from June 1 are now open via Restaurant Barr’s website.
