The best Coronation hotel stays in London

The King’s Coronation may be a once-in-a-lifetime event, but these luxury London hotels have celebratory stays that can be enjoyed long after the occasion is over.

King Charles III will be crowned on Saturday, May 6, alongside Camilla. These luxury hotels offer celebratory stays.

The Londoner

One of the capital’s relatively newer hotels which has already been a big hit with its central location in Leicester Square, The Londoner is just a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace and Green Park – right in the heart of the action. Their special Coronation experience is offering guests 10% off the hotel’s usual rates, plus a Royal Coronation walking tour which follows the route of the procession from Westminster Abbey to the Palace. The package will provide complimentary breakfast, two martinis – a personal favourite of King Charles; paired with four Fine de Claire oysters and access to the hotel’s stunning facilities, which include a spa, private lounge spaces and a ‘superfood clinic’.

Hotel Café Royal

The Hotel Café Royal, with its convenient Piccadilly Circus location, is already famed for its opulent interiors and lavish afternoon teas. The hotel is going all-out for the upcoming celebrations, offering two of the most exclusive Coronation packages in the city. The ‘King Charles III package’ requires a two-night stay, but eligible guests will get a private, chauffeur-driven tour of the most royal London sights, such as St. James’ Palace and Clarence House, plus a delectable breakfast and champagne afternoon tea. The ‘Crown Jewels Experience’ is similarly special, offering a stay in the Royal Suite, which is over 3,000sq/ft with in-room breakfast and a chauffeured car to the Tower of London, where guests will have a private tour of the grounds led by a Beefeater, along with a champagne reception and private viewing of the Crown Jewels. The unique experiences are available from April 1. to October 1. with the former starting at £2,625 and the latter a huge £12,995.

Mandarin Oriental

Mandarin Oriental is known the world over for its first-class hospitality. Its London hotel in Hyde Park is in a prime location for anyone looking for an up-close view of the Coronation celebrations and they’re hosting some special packages to compliment your stay. The ‘Very Royal Occasion’ experience has already opened for bookings, and comes with a stay in a beautiful suite, Coronation afternoon tea and a meal at the two-Michelin star Dinner by Heston Blumenthal. Guests will also get to go on a self-guided royal London sightseeing tour. The afternoon tea experience is available until May 14. while dinner at Heston’s can be booked between May 1. and May 31. and will be a specially curated four-course royal menu. – both of these can be booked outside of the Coronation stay package. Those who have booked the overnight experience on May 6., the day of the King’s Coronation, will also receive a complimentary bottle of Laphroaig – the new monarch’s favourite whiskey.

The Goring

Any royal fan knows that the Royal Suite at The Goring, just around the corner from Buckingham Palace in Victoria, was where Kate Middleton stayed before her Royal Wedding to Prince William. Staying at the hotel is a special experience on its own, but The Goring will additionally be hosting a Coronation afternoon tea from April 28. to May 24. followed by a specially created Coronation Tasting Menu available between May 1 – 7 in their Michelin-starred restaurant The Dining Room. The six course menu features Clarence Court eggs, cured salmon with fennel and a wild garlic risotto and can be booked with or without a stay in the hotel.

One Aldwych

Nestled in lively Covent Garden with access to the capital’s best sights and just a few tube stops from Westminster, One Aldwych is putting on a special ‘Crown Jewels & Iconic Sights’ experience package. Guests can book this offer until September 2023, which includes a two-night stay in a suite, private viewing of the Crown Jewels and a private charter of the Silver Darling yacht with a champagne hamper, plus breakfast for two, complimentary gifts from the Tower of London and Coronation cocktails at the hotel’s bar. The Guardsman

Its royal name might give you a clue to The Guardsman’s special location at Buckingham Gate, in one of London’s best spots for experiencing the King’s Coronation. Although the hotel is royal throughout the year, for the month of May they are offering a one-off package for extended stays in London. The ‘New Guard’ package will include four-nights at the hotel, a royal afternoon tea which can be enjoyed either in the hotel or in nearby St. James’ Park, a multi-course meal inspired by A Royal Cookbook, and an optional royal walking tour at an additional cost. The experience must be booked in advance and starts at £660.

11 Cadogan Gardens

Situated in Chelsea, London’s exclusive, leafy neighbourhood filled with designer shops and a short hop to Buckingham Palace, lies 11 Cadogan Gardens. The hotel is offering a ‘Live Like a King’ experience between May 7. and December 31. for those booking stays of two-nights or more. Guests will stay in a luxurious suite or apartment and have a chauffeur-driven private pickup from any London airport. Stays will also include personalised toiletries, a bottle of Laurent Perrier champagne, daily English breakfast and a royal afternoon tea, alongside a surprise gift in your room. During the week of the Coronation, the hotel’s bar will be offering visitors The Crown, a specially created cocktail also using Laurent Perrier to celebrate the new King.
