The red wine Pian della Fornace Chianti Classico Riserva, vintage 2018 from the winery Castello di Fonterutoli has been rated in 2021 by Ulrich Sautter with 92+ Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Merlot, Sangiovese from the region Chianti classico in Italy.
Some cherry and cocoa powder, plus the typical maturity patina of a Riserva. On the palate has good acidity, dense tannin, not too soft and rounded, the Sangiovese does show its acidity and grip, but the wine has nothing of the green Chiantis of earlier days. Ends with compact, juicy cherry fruit. Good style, good definite ageing potential.
