The red wine Bürgel Spätburgunder, vintage 2016 from the winery Geils Sekt- und Weingut has been rated in 2019 by Ulrich Sautter with 92 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Pinot Noir from the region Rhine Hesse in Germany.
Cherry brandy, darjeeling, earthy spicy aromas, a little roasted coffee/tea. Broad on the palate, very sustained in style and in all parts, mellow very finely dissolving tannins that nevertheless increase towards the finish, subtle palate fruit, with distinctly chalky, mineral and tactile components. It has a mild acidity and an overall power wrapped in understatement.
