The sekt »Pinot 3« brut nature, vintage 2017 from the winery Geils Sekt- und Weingut has been rated in 2023 by Ulrich Sautter with 92+ Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Spätburgunder, Weißburgunder, Grauer Burgunder from the region Rhine Hesse in Germany.
At the beginning yeasty and savoury aroma. On the palate, the wine develops a taut structure, a fine-grained, fresh mousse, clearly salty notes, it seems overall still quite closed and should benefit enormously from bottle ageing (or a later disgorgement).
More about the tastingSubtly berry on the nose, yeast notes, a hint of patina. On the palate, the wine has a juicy, slender appeal, the mousse is fine and the acidity lively, the wooden barrel maturation of the base wines or one of the base wines is recognisable on the finish. A refined, complex composition.
