The red wine Sito dell'Ulmo Merlot IGT, vintage 2001 from the winery Planeta has been rated in 2006 with Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Merlot from the region Sicily in Italy.
Dark ruby garnet, violet reflections. Fine eucalyptus, leafy spice, tobacco leaves and mint (i.e. Australia) on the nose. Rather brittle on the palate, rough tannins that do not yet fit into the overall picture, firm texture, good food companion, should be given some time to mature in the bottle.
