The red wine »Saphir« trocken, vintage 2017 from the winery Weingut Albrecht Schwegler has been rated in 2021 by Ulrich Sautter with 93 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Lemberger, Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot from the region Württemberg in Germany.
Tasting Notes
Aromas of plum, pungent new oak, wild plum, and an almost an ethereal, petrol-like scent. A soft and slightly viscous onset on the palate followed by taut tannins and zesty acidity. A very well-built example, suitable for a decade of bottle ageing.
More about the tastingScents of black-fruit and blackberries, structured; far from drinking jam despite 14 % alcohol by volume. The grape varieties also depict a Burgenland appeal (38% Blaufränkisch, 28% Zweigelt). It has a demanding core with velvety tannins. The best advertisement for this style.
