The white wine »New Chicks on the Block Diamond Edition«, vintage 2023 from the winery Weingut Hammel has been rated in 2024 by Ulrich Sautter with 89+ Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Sauvitage, Cabernet Blanc from the region Pfalz (Palatinate) in Germany.
Anyone thinking of double-digit prices (or even more) for a "Diamond Edition" has done the math without Christoph Hammel. The wine is initially muted on the nose, with only subtle hints of paprika and Cabernet grassiness shining through. On the palate, power and savouriness welcome the drinker; this is not just a fruit wine. Candied lemon, quince, some herbs, harmoniously balanced and well made.
