20-Gruppen’s new venture, G.A.T., located in Davidsonska Huset at Gustav Adolfs Torg in Stockholm, now welcomes guests to a high-octane New York bistro featuring a classic cocktail bar and exclusive private dining, The menu has staples like King Crab legs, Shrimp Cocktail and New York Strip plus the signature G.A.T. Toast with duck foie gras, beef tenderloin and caviar.
"Good things come to those who wait! We are incredibly happy and proud to open G.A.T. to Stockholm and the world—we welcome everyone who welcomes everyone," says Joel Söderbäck, CEO of 20-Gruppen.
The process leading up to the opening has been long, particularly as the building is listed with the highest protection and carries a rich cultural-historical legacy. To transform the storied premises into an elegant restaurant environment, 20-Gruppen collaborated with architect Andreas Martin-Löf, who has carefully created an interior that feels as though it has always been there.
"The rooms were absolutely fantastic from the start, designed by architects Agi Lindegren and Gustaf Lindgren in the late 19th century, so much of the work has been about highlighting the inherent character of the space. It had to be handled with kid gloves, with many elements we weren't allowed to touch or had to work around. One example is the custom-built wall lamps we designed so they wouldn’t affect the elegant wainscoting that surrounds the dining room and cocktail bar," says Andreas Martin-Löf.
